MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 108

Good morning my friends. How was your weekend?

Friday we went to a container sale of antique furniture, paintings, copper pots, outdoor fountains, and all sorts of other fabulous pieces from Belgium and France. There were so many fabulous pieces, unfortunately I do not need any more furniture. We picked up a few small things and that was about it. Then we had appetizers and drinks on the patio with friends.

Saturday was beautiful. Sunny and crisp, the perfect weather to bundle up in the early morning and take a long walk.

Sunday after mass I made a huge mess in the half of the house. Tell me I’m not the only one that decides to clean one thing or place and in order to get that accomplished has to clean/destroy one or two additional areas to re-home the things from the first project?

My husband and I love to cook and bake, consequently we have a large cookbook collection. Many of them live in the cabinets under the builtin bookcases in the living room, which is not a bad place, but it is a little inconvenient. So, I had the idea to move them to a closet near the kitchen. The only problem is the closet is filled with china, dishes, vases, etc. that we only use occasionally. Needless to say, all of the stuff from that closet in now filling up the the kitchen counter space and the dining table.

In the process, I filled 2 large Tupperware buckets with dishes, vases and books for the thrift store. Nothing is in its new home but the cookbooks. The rest I am working on this morning. Wish me luck.

What did you do this weekend? Did you go anywhere fun or do anything fun?

Ok, on to +5 things

Quote-You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

All the Flowers in Paris

When Caroline wakes up in a Paris hospital with no memory of her past, she’s confused to learn that for years she’s lived a sad, reclusive life in a sprawling apartment on the rue Cler. Slowly regaining vague memories of a man and a young child, she vows to piece her life back together—though she can’t help but feel she may be in danger. A budding friendship with the chef of a charming nearby restaurant takes her mind off her foggy past, as does a startling mystery from decades prior.

In Nazi-occupied Paris, a young widow named Céline is trying to build a new life for her daughter while working in her father’s flower shop and hoping to find love again. Then a ruthless German officer discovers her Jewish ancestry and Céline is forced to play a dangerous game to secure the safety of her loved ones. When her worst fears come true, she must fight back in order to save the person she loves most: her daughter.

When Caroline discovers Céline’s letters tucked away in a closet, she realizes that her apartment harbors dark secrets—and that she may have more in common with Céline than she could have ever imagined.

2.WATCHED~Skip the 2024 Interior Design Trends

We don’t always have to follow the trends, here is a new take on the 2024 design trends. My favorite thing, which I have loved for years and did in my own house this year, the curtain over the front door. They have been used in homes for years in Europe to keep out the drafts, and add softness, texture and pattern to an otherwise boring space.
