Homemade gifts re the best gifts because they are made with love. I have a long list of people that I bake or make things for and I decided this year to try a few recipes. The famous Union Street Cafe bar nuts is one of the recipes.

Homemade nuts and nut mixes nuts are an easy and delicious gift to give. In addition to just giving a beautiful tin of these nuts you can add them to a bottle of wine or champagne or even a basket with cheese and homemade crackers.

Whatever you do make sure that you make an extra batch for your own house because these are the best bar nuts or appetizer to serve with drinks when people stop by over the next few weeks.

You can prep all of theses simple ingredients and have a piping hot batch ion mixed nuts n the oven just as your guests walk in the door! Not only will they enjoy the Union Square Café nuts but the sweet rosemary scent as if wafts through the air.

What You Need to Make Union Square Cafe Bar Nuts

  • 2 1/2 cups of mixed unsalted raw nuts (pecans, walnuts, cashews, pistachios, etc)
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh chopped rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt or sea salt
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted melted butter

How to Make Union Street Cafe Bar Nuts

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Toast the nuts until lightly toasted and light golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl mix together the unsalted butter, fresh rosemary, cayenne pepper, brown sugar. Add the warm unsalted nuts to the spiced butter and then sprinkle with the salt. Toss to coat.
  • That’s it, the whole recipe takes about 10 minutes and they are spicy and sweet and scrumptious!

Variations

Union Square Cafe’s nut blend includes pecans, walnuts, Brazil nuts, peanuts, almonds, cashews or hazelnuts. But could you also add pistachios and macadamia nuts. Add or subtract whatever nuts you like to make the perfect nut mix for you and your palate.

Serving Suggestions

Union Square bar nuts are perfect with a glass of wine, an ice-cold beer, a craft cocktail or mocktail.

They look beautiful in clear cellophane bags tied with ribbon or in a holiday tin with a clear window so that your recipients can see what they are getting.
