WEEKEND MEANDERINGS

Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Juliet and Kim. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.

It was a beautiful week here. Cool mornings and evenings with a hint of wood fire on the air, crispy leaves crunching underfoot and a mix of rainy mornings and sunny afternoons.

Have you started decorating for Christmas? Overnight my neighborhood is aglow with holiday decorations. Across the carriage way is are 3 beautifully decorated and colorful light displays and a giant snow globe with snowman inside. It makes me smile every time I catch a glimpse as I walk past the window.

I put up the last of my Christmas decorations yesterday. I wasn’t going to put anything up aside from the tree I shared a few weeks ago because the house is not looking its best. But Christmas has always been one of our favorite times of the year and I am not going to miss out because of the mess. I corralled most of the stuff in the garage and in one of the bedrooms so aside form the dust it looks nice.

What about you? When do you decorate for the holidays? After Thanksgiving or any day after Halloween?

Ok, let’s meander.

One to Follow~ Yarn Home

I discovered Yarn on Instagram and I am smitten not only with their cozy English interiors and rug but their motto, “be part of the circular economy.” Yarn is a shop that sells vintage and antique preloved rugs and they are beautiful, as is, their Instagram account.

Their philosophy is simple:

“At Yarn, we want to ditch the make, use, dispose model that has become so common in decorating our homes. We believe in the circular economy, sourcing unique, handwoven vintage and antique rugs to make it easy for you to shop for high-quality second hand pieces for your home.”

Grace Coddington~Astier Villette

Grace Coddington Cup

Grace Coddington is a busy woman since leaving Vogue. Her latest collaboration is with famed French artisanal ceramic workshop Astier de Villatte. She has illustrated a series of six tea cups, two sizes of teapots, and two saucers. Playful cats have tea, read the newspaper, and court each other, all in the company of very friendly little mice.

These pieces are pricy so if you are a fan of Graces’ illustrations you might want to invest in one of her illustrated cards instead.

If you are planing a visit to Paris make sure to check out Astier Villette to see this collaboration and many others. You an also follow Grace on Instagram.

The holidays are a hard time for people, especially the elderly. If you have a friend or neighbor that will be alone over the holiday season why not reach out to them and see how they are doing? Bring them a homemade treat too!

  1. The Besotted Bookworm looks like a fun one to follow! I love books. And I also love cats, so Grace Coddington’s artwork is of interest. I haven’t even got this house in any shape yet, so I don’t know about Christmas decorations. Have a great weekend!

  3. Swooning over Yarn Home and their beautiful, vintage rugs. How did I not know Grace Coddington is an illustrator? She can do it all. So many wonderful recipe ideas. I pinned them all and I’m going to make the fig pinwheels for a party! xo

  4. Lovely post thank you Elizabeth. I know John Lewis well and really enjoyed the video thank you, and sent it to a bird fanatic.Definitely tissue time! I tend to start Christmas decorating after Thanksgiving. Thank you for the gorgeous recipes. Have a lovely weekend.

  5. Elizabeth, It sounds like great weather there.. I just love your tree and the plaid skirt so much. Thank you for sharing Yarn company . Wonderful message and a great business idea. Do better for the planet and you know those rugs are likely higher quality too. I love the Grace Coddington collection. I don’t have any Astier, but maybe someday… I loved the appetizers. I try to do a nut mix too. Your blue and tan outfit is lovely too.
I watched that commercial twice. Made me cry. I have a soft spot for the elderly and they are alone so much.. The UK does a better job about caring for older folks than we do. You are so right that a little baked good makes their day. I try and adopt the older folks around here and chat with them.
    Have a lovely weekend. xo
