Weekend Meanderings
Good Saturday morning friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim, Juliet is taking some time off to prepare for her move and new house build. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.
Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead tonight for the “spring ahead” Daylight Savings. This is a happy day for many, not me, I actually enjoy it when it gets dark earlier and I do not like when it is light until 9:00 at night. As a child I lived in Alaska for 2.5 years and in the summer the sun never sets, it’s the land of the midnight sun. Perhaps that is why I dislike daylight savings?

It’s also International Women’s Day! I was trying to think of “the most” amazing woman that I know, after some thought I realized…ALL WOMEN ARE AMAZING!
That is our nature, we are nurtures, and helpers and do everything in our power to make the lives of the people we love better and with our leftover energy we make the world a better place. Happy International Women’s Day to all of the amazing women that read this blog!

Helena is a new to me neurodivergent Impressionist landscape painter based in Surrey and London that I discovered recently on Instagram. Her beautiful landscapes are moody, vibrant and magical.

It is no secret that I am an Anglophile, I fell in love on my first trip to England at 15 years old. Since then I have spent countless holidays visiting my brother who lived there for 10 years and on trips that my husband and I took. I am particularly enchanted by English country life, the gardens, houses, animals and all the rest.
Leah Lane is pure joy, she celebrates the magic of everyday living with her husband, two children, chickens, ducks and life in the English countryside. They live in a Grade II listed Georgian house on three acres and the house is charming, filled with finds from Facebook marketplace, thrift stores and jumble sales. If you enjoy gardening, cooking, flower arranging and other country pursuits this is one to follow.

Masterpiece Theater~Miss Austen
Jane Austen lovers mark your calendars, Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 9/8c for the first of 4 episodes of Miss Austen.
SPOILER ALERT: If you can’t wait until May 4th I found a recap of episode 1 for you to watch.
Miss Austen takes an historic literary mystery – the notorious burning of Jane Austen’s letters by her sister Cassandra – and reimagines it as a fascinating, witty, and heart-breaking story of sisterly love, while creating in Cassandra a character as captivating as any Austen heroine.
Based upon the best-selling novel Miss Austen by Gill Hornby’s, this period drama brings a fresh and intimate perspective to the Austen sisters’ lives — their joys, heartaches, and the passions that would shape Jane’s iconic novels.

Happy weekend, and Happy International Women’s Day! I can’t wait to walk my laptop to the sofa and tour Mulberry House. Thanks for the heads up about the Jane Austen series … May feels so far away and this is going to be so good. I’m not sure I knew you lived in Alaska. Fascinating. When we lived in the Pacific Northwest it took be by surprised how late the sun set … I didn’t like it and I don’t enjoy the time change. I keep hearing we’re dispensing with it, but it never ends. Oh well, there are worse things I suppose and we’ll make the adjustment. Hope you have a lovely weekend! xo
Juliet, in the midst of all of the things you have going on take a break and get lost at Mulberry House, you will fall in love!
Yes, I lived in Alaska and we loved it.
I am surprised when we go to Scotland in the winter how dark it gets so early, it’s funny you don’t think about these things.
No, I do not think we will ever get rid of the time changes nationwide but each state can make their own decisions on that apparently so maybe California will change.
Have a great week, don’t work too hard or get too stressed, it will all happen as it should.
xo
