MONDAY MUSINGS

Good morning friends, how was your weekend? Did you have a nice Father’s Day?

We hade a great weekend. The weather was so beautiful and by that I mean no humidity. Saturday morning we woke up to a bit of a chill in the air, then a beautiful sunny day followed. After yoga at the lake and a little work, I made homemade ice cream, hot fudge and brownies to take a a birthday party.

Sunday was Father’s Day. There were phone calls with kids and my dad, then brunch. The afternoon was spent at the pool with friends.

It was a leisurely, relaxing day with lots of laughs, and fun. Now I am refreshed and ready for a busy week ahead.

What about you? What did you do this weekend?

+5 THINGS

1.READ

Marlena de Blasi is one of my all time favorite authors. If you love food, Italy, a little romance, interesting people and beautiful writing you will enjoy every one of her books.

The Umbrian Thursday Night Supper Club book cover of a group of people sitting around a round table.

The Umbrian Thursday Night Supper Club

Every week on a Thursday evening, a group of four Italian rural women gather in a stone house in the hills above Italy’s Orvieto. There—along with their friend, Marlena—they cook together, sit down to a beautiful supper, drink their beloved local wines, and talk. Surrounded by candlelight, good food and friendship, Miranda, Ninucia, Paolina, and Gilda tell their life stories of loves lost and found, of ageing and abandonment, of mafia grudges and family feuds, and of cherished ingredients and recipes whose secrets have been passed down through generations. For fans of all things Italian, and the thousands of readers who loved The Kabul Beauty School; Eat, Pray, Love; and Best Exotic Marigold Hotel; this book is a culmination of de Blasi’s 20 years spent living, traveling, cooking, eating, and drinking in Italy, and of course it includes recipes for the most mouthwatering Umbrian dishes.
