Merryhearth Manor & Me
Amanda Grayson had a happy marriage, a beautiful home, and a successful career—until she didn’t. Starting over in her forties was the last thing she expected to be doing. That’s when she discovers a once-grand historic house that takes on a talismanic power the moment she sees it. The nearly two-hundred-year-old, abandoned brick manor, surrounded by the crests of Virginia’s old Blue Ridge Mountains, calls to her. It needs saving—and she wants to save it—but how?
That’s also when she finds herself in the middle of an improbable attraction at work. As emotions evolve, Amanda realizes she is either in the safest relationship imaginable, or she has taken a course that could destabilize her career and what’s left of her heart. Either way, she senses whatever is happening is key to helping her regain her devastated vivacity, but at what cost?
And, that’s when a career-breaking project heats up, keeping her on the road and attracting unwanted attention from the highest levels of her federal agency in Washington, D.C. This unexpected twist leaves her balancing a tightrope of department politics, personal agendas, and turf guarding that threatens to destabilize her plans and her future. Can she control the chaos, or will it control her?
The Long Flight Home
It is September 1940 – a year into the war – and as German bombs fall on Britain, fears grow of an impending invasion. Enemy fighter planes blacken the sky around the Epping Forest home of Susan Shepherd and her grandfather, Bertie. After losing her parents to influenza as a child, Susan found comfort in raising homing pigeons with Bertie. All her birds are extraordinary to Susan – loyal, intelligent, beautiful – but none more so than Duchess, who shares a special bond with Susan and an unusual curiosity about the human world.
Thousands of miles away in Buxton, Maine, a young crop-duster pilot named Ollie Evans has decided to travel to Britain to join the Royal Air Force. His quest brings him to Epping and to the National Pigeon Service, where Susan is involved in a new, covert assignment. Codenamed Source Columba, the mission aims to air-drop hundreds of homing pigeons in German-occupied France. Many will not survive. Those that do make the journey home to England can convey crucial information on German troop movements – and help reclaim the skies from the Luftwaffe.
The friendship between Ollie and Susan deepens as the mission date draws near. When Ollie’s plane is downed behind enemy lines, both know how remote the chances of reunion must be. Yet Duchess’s devotion and her singular sense of duty will become an unexpected lifeline.
Don’t forget to pre-order Kristy Woodson Harveys’ new book! Coming out in July it will be the perfect beach read.
The Summer of Songbirds
Nearly thirty years ago, in the wake of a personal tragedy, June Moore bought Camp Holly Springs and turned it into a thriving summer haven for girls. But now, June is in danger of losing the place she has sacrificed everything for, and begins to realize how much she has used the camp to avoid facing difficulties in her life.
June’s niece, Daphne, met her two best friends, Lanier and Mary Stuart, during a fateful summer at camp. They’ve all helped each other through hard things, from heartbreak and loss to substance abuse and unplanned pregnancy, and the three are inseparable even in their thirties. But when attorney Daphne is confronted with a relationship from her past—and a confidential issue at work becomes personal—she is faced with an impossible choice.
Lanier, meanwhile, is struggling with tough decisions of her own. After a run-in with an old flame, she is torn between the commitment she made to her fiancé and the one she made to her first love. And when a big secret comes to light, she finds herself at odds with her best friend…and risks losing the person she loves most.
But in spite of their personal problems, nothing is more important to these songbirds than Camp Holly Springs. When the women learn their childhood oasis is in danger of closing, they band together to save it, sending them on a journey that promises to open the next chapters in their lives.

Thank you!
Hi Elizabeth! Thank you for sharing my bold chex mix! It’s a family favorite recipe and it does not last long in our house. Also, your blog is beautiful, so glad to have found it!!!
Thank you Heidi. I love Chex mix and cannot wait to snack on your recipe! Have a wonderful weekend.
I read the article about purchasing only 5 items this year & it brought an awareness to me – like what do I really need to add to my closet? The blog post about giving up social media for 6 months is appealing to me as I have too many bookmarks open on things that interested me but really will they bring value to my life? I do so enjoy blogs but I need to set a timer as I’ve been reading for 3 hours. Time to get outside.
I am with you, I am at the age where I really to not want to add more “stuff” to my life. I don’t need it. I simply share things here that I like that that others might as well. If I make a purchase I share my experience with the product.
As for social media, I limit my time on all platforms. I do spend time on blogs, reading and commenting. I actually feel as if I learn something from them and am not just mindlessly scrolling as I sometimes do on Instagram.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
I am definitely not watching the Suoer Bowl
I only watch the commercials. Have a great weekend William!
Nice post Elizabeth! So much here. I am definitely not watching the Super Bowl! I loved the article about not being on social media. Trying to go back to the olden days, when you could have a blog but not be on social media promoting it constantly. Very hard to do. Happy Sunday!
Gray, I cold not agree more. I miss the days before so much social media and I am sorry that there is a generation that has never known that life. Have a wonderful week.
Hi Eliz

Thank you Cindy! I love Boden! Have a wonderful week.
