Good morning friends, how was your weekend? On Saturday we finished up a few last minute Christmas things and then Sunday we made our favorite chili and watched Christmas movies all day. It was the perfect balance and a well needed rest before the Christmas festivities begin.
Monday Musings and Christmas Cookies

I am curious, have you run into any shortages of food, toys, gifts or whatever else you were looking for this Christmas? This past week I read that there was a shortage of cream cheese, luckily the stores in my area have tons of it.

Last night I read there is a candy cane shortage because of a shortage of peppermint, not so here. There are candy canes every where I shop; in fact my sister in law bought about 200 to decorate a candy cane themed tree they had for a party this weekend. I’ve not run into a shortage of anything relating to Christmas, remodeling the house thought is another story(I’ll save that for another day). I was just wondering if you had any issues or problems or if there is something that you were hoping to have but were unable to get this year?

Have you finished baking? I think I am finished for the year, unless I decide to bake something at the last minute. If you are looking for a few tired and true Christmas Cookie and candy recipes to make here is a list of a few of the cookies and candy I made this year:
Christmas Cookies
Cranberry Pecan Chocolate Rugelach
Chocolate Dipped Viennese Whirls
Chocolate Covered Oreos & Peppermint Joe Joe’s

My favorite and I think cutest “Christmas Pudding” Brownie Bites.
Homemade Christmas Candy
Fairy Food, a family favorite
What have you been baking or making for Christmas? I still want to make a couple of things but I have to honest, I am loosing steam. The good news is that my bother is a fabulous baker and he is hosting Christmas Eve dinner so I am sure that whatever I didn’t make he will.

If you are looking for a last minute affordable Hostess GiftI have several ideas for you to pick up at the last minute.
Thank you so much for stopping by today friends, I appreciate you spending part of your day here. You can also find me on Facebook.com/Pineconesandacornsblog, on Instagram @pineconesandacorns, on Pinterest and Twitter!
I hope that you have an amazing day and are enjoying the last few days of calm before the Christmas holidays.

I keep hearing all the “shortages” stories too but so far, am personally not impacted. I would have liked to buy a new car but can wait until the computer chip shortage is over. My baking begins tomorrow; I make fewer things than you but it will still be a big day!
How fun are your hostess gifts!!! Our grocery store shelves seem a little lighter and my favorite peanut butter (Santa Cruz) is hard to get back in stock….but other than that no shortages (except for clients on the home front).
Take care and have a very merry Christmas.
Thank you for all of the links to enjoy.
Haven’t had and problem getting holiday ingredients really other than our local Costco not carrying English Stilton cheese this year! Have to have some for the holidays! Fortunately found some in the Tucson store when there for Thanksgiving and brought it back with us!
Your baking looks awesome as always dear – I’ve got a few things still to make!
Have fun a your brother’s home – wonderful that he’s a good cook!
Happy Christmas to you all.
