MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 133
WEEKEND UPDATE
Good morning friends, happy Monday musings to you.
It was a great weekend for many reasons but the best one was that the bricklayers came Saturday afternoon! There has been rain on and off since they set up their scaffolding last week, cleaned our old bricks and brought the new ones. We thought we might see them Monday but on Saturday afternoon they came by for a few hours to get ahead start.
In the 2 hours they were at the house they managed to get half of the bricks in place. It may rain tomorrow so I am not sure when they will be back but we are making progress.
Aside from that we spent time at the pool, took a long walk and tackled a few projects around the house.
What about you? How was your weekend?
Ok, on to +5 Things.
1.READ~The Cliffs

On a secluded bluff overlooking the ocean sits a Victorian house, lavender with gingerbread trim, a home that contains a century’s worth of secrets. By the time Jane Flanagan discovers the house as a teenager, it has long been abandoned. The place is an irresistible mystery to Jane. There are still clothes in the closets, marbles rolling across the floors, and dishes in the cupboards, even though no one has set foot there in decades. The house becomes a hideaway for Jane, a place to escape her volatile mother.
Twenty years later, now a Harvard archivist, she returns home to Maine following a terrible mistake that threatens both her career and her marriage. Jane is horrified to find the Victorian is now barely recognizable. The new owner, Genevieve, a summer person from Beacon Hill, has gutted it, transforming the house into a glossy white monstrosity straight out of a shelter magazine. Strangely, Genevieve is convinced that the house is haunted—perhaps the product of something troubling Genevieve herself has done. She hires Jane to research the history of the place and the women who lived there. The story Jane uncovers—of lovers lost at sea, romantic longing, shattering loss, artistic awakening, historical artifacts stolen and sold, and the long shadow of colonialism—is even older than Maine itself.
Enthralling, richly imagined, filled with psychic mediums and charlatans, spirits and past lives, mothers, marriage, and the legacy of alcoholism, this is a deeply moving novel about the land we inhabit, the women who came before us, and the ways in which none of us will ever truly leave this earth.

So excited to hear they’re making progress on your brick project, Elizabeth. I know every little bit helps especially with all the rain we’ve been having lately. We’ve been watching the Olympics too and it’s been so much fun. When the US men’s gymnastic team won bronze oh my gosh it was like pure joy on their faces. It was so sweet. Also, Celine – wow – she was definitely the star of the Olympics. It still gives me chills just thinking about her performance. I can’t believe we’re in the final days of July but I’m excited about all the good things coming our way in August. Sending you lots of hugs and hoping your week is filled with the most amazing adventures, CoCo
