Lavender Love Weekend Meanderings

A little of this, a little of that and lots of lavender on weekend meanderings. Including lavender cakes, drinks, DIY and more.

Good Morning friends, it is a beautiful sunny day and I am up bright and early getting things ready for the dinner party we are hosting this evening.  I have sauces to make, cupcakes to frost and lavender simple syrup to make. This morning I am joining my friends Juliet and Kim for Weekend Meanderings so when you finish here pop over and see what they are up too!

Todays post was inspired by the lavender simple syrup the I am making to use in the Lavender French 75 cocktails that are on the menu this evening.

 Lavender Love Weekend Meanderings

When I was looking for a recipe for a lavender cocktail I went down a rabbit hole of beautiful images of the rolling lavender fields in Provence. Have you ever seen the fields of Provence? I was lucky enough to be there one summer and lavender is not only in the fields, it is at the market, in bouquets, sachets, soaps, and more. It is a beautiful sight.

If you do not have a trip planned to Provence may I suggest a trip to the Pelindaba lavender farm on San Juan island, Washington? The entire island is charming, as is the town of Friday Harbor. Not only will you hear the buzz of the bees and see the purple fields of lavender but you might also see orcas, humpbacks, otters and many other wildlife species while visiting the island. We stayed at the Birdrock Hotel and loved the location, the hotel and the helpful staff.

Lavender sachets

Sachets are the easiest DIY ever, you simply scoop your lavender buds into a cotton bag, tie the top and voila you have a beautiful sachet. These cute little bags make a great gift for family and friends. You can also keep them to hang in your closet to repel moths, or place them in your drawers to scent your clothing.

  1. Good morning, Elizabeth! Everything lavender … I can almost spell the goodness over here. Lavender makes me think of a spa … ah, a spa. Wouldn’t that be nice today? Love the Lavender French 75 idea … you’ll get your dinner party started right. If you’re not too exhausted to enjoy it … preparing for guests can be exhausting, right? Of course, that all wears off the second they walk through the door and the fun begins. I’m pinning everything lavender … and those heart shaped cookies. Swoon. Do you know I lived on Fidalgo Island for two years, visited the San Juans many times but never saw the lavender fields. Serious fail on my end. But a good reason to go back. Hope you have a delightful dinner with friends and enjoy every moment of your weekend. xo

  2. Hi Elizabeth, you know I adore you Lavender! I can never get enough. I so wish it grew well in NJ.

    Enjoy your dinner party tonight!

  3. Elizabeth, I am a big fan of lavender and really enjoyed this so much. I have saved all these recipes! I so want to try the angel food cake especially. Your Lavender 75 is perfect for summer. I have been to the lavender fields in Provence a few years ago near St Remy and they were stunning! I have lavender all over my property here and am always wondering the best way to save it? I try and cut it and dry in bundles. Now maybe I should make some sachets. Oh and that caftan is TDF! Enjoy your weekend and your dinner party. Sounds like a lot of fun. xo Kim
