Weekend Meanderings

Good Saturday morning friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.

Can you believe we are heading into the last week of August? 2025 seems to be moving at the speed of light.

Thank God Hurricane Erin moved further out in the Atlantic and NC was not really affected except on the coast. I understand there was flooding and damage in the coastal towns but thankfully no where else. It didn’t even rain here. Hopefully the storm will continue its way further out and not do any damage to the rest of the East coast. If you are in its path be safe friends.

This morning there was a bit of a chill in the air, and I loved it! It’s funny because for over half of my life I have lived in states where there are four distinct seasons and I enjoyed it. Since moving to the South however I am an extreme weather wimp, and I hate the heat of summer. Anyone else? I could never move back to a place where there is a never ending winter so I guess the heat of summer is the trade off for a mild winter.

Ok, the weekly weather report is over let’s meander.

Shelby Frank is a 15 year old British wildlife photographer based in Hertfordshire. He picked up a camera for the first time August of 2023 and 2 years later he is an award winning wildlife photographer. Shelbys’ work is stunning, it’s hard to believe that he is so young. I am partial to his photos of the foxes and the owls.

There are not very many letters in existence written by Jane Austen because her sister Cassandra destroyed most of them. We are lucky enough to have a few at the Morgan Library, you can see them until September 14th, 2025.

It was a busy week on the blog,

Tan sweater, white pants, brown sling back sandals and bag, gold earrings.

On Monday Musings I shared this Fall outfit and lots more. You can find the outfits details in the post.

Trench Coats 2025 collage.

Wednesday it was all about trench coats! Trench coats are perfect for the in between season, where is cool enough for a coat or its raining but not cold enough to need a winter weight jacket. You can pick a classic color or let your personality show. I LOVE the plaid trench coat from Boden.

  1. I love Shelby Grant’s amazing photography! Now I want to know what camera he uses. I hate the heat. I’d rather have cold weather. I’ve only lived in two places with similar weather. Don’t think I’d want to live in the South, where there’s even more heat. Have a great weekend!

    1. Brenda, if you go to Shelbys “about me page” on his website I believe he shares the camera. His work is amazing and he has such a sweet soul.
I am with you, I would rather have the chill and the cold weather.
      Have a beautiful weekend Brenda!

  2. It really has been a HOT Summer…but it’s been hot elsewhere…except in SF. I don’t miss having to bundle up for the Fourth of July 🙂
You have so many interesting things on your radar, Elizabeth. You are truly inspirational.

I didn’t make much this past week except a couple of colorful flower arrangements (I usually like one shade). I finished “Frozen River” though which I enjoyed.

  3. Elizabeth what a fun post. I want to see all these films! The pumpkin one and the one about the theatre family really sound great. Bravo for original films. I am so tired of everything being a remake.
Loved the links to the paints in the kitchen too.
This gal that dresses in historical dress is amazingly talented.
I am sorry I missed this week’s Apple crisp. I am going to add it to this week’s blog right now!

It got hot here too… You could move to California! We have nice weather. We would love it. oxo

  4. Elizabeth! It must have been wonderful to feel a hint of fall in the air. Reading about the heat around the country I feel like I should keep my mouth shut and not push our luck. Of course, just as I was ready to embrace fall, summer arrived and we’re getting a little heat. It was only a few days and for that I’m grateful. As always I appreciate all your tips and suggestions for things to watch and look forward to. I’m astounded by 15 year old Shelby … and those foxes. Adorable. I made nothing this week … no meals, no crafts, no floral arrangements. Oof, I’d better up my game this week. Have a lovely weekend! xo

  5. Hi Elizabeth,
Wowie, thanks for sharing Asta Darling the digital creator of costumes and stories was outstanding. I passed it onto my forever friend who is a costume designer and she looooved both the undergarments, and the Watteau gown. Exquisite work! I also have a high appreciation for creating costumes. In fact my husband and I invited Sandie to go with us to see the “Anna Sui” costume clothing exhibit in May and they had 80 mannequins that were awesome. The exhibition was stellar. It leaves Phoenix in September. I know from your extensive travels you have seen some of the best in art.
Thanks for everything else you shared in today’s post.
I handcrafted a few special cards for one dear friend that is recovering from a procedure and a birthday card for her as well in September.

  6. Hi Elizabeth,

What a wonderful post thank you for the interesting film ideas and I loved ‘Advice From A Stranger’.We are talking about where to live next as I so miss the seasons and your comment about the South struck a cord as that is where my husband’s family is from.Lovely recipes thank you! Take care happy week!
