Last Minute Christmas Gifts, Stocking Stuffers and Homemade Treats on Weekend Meanderings.

Last minute Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers, and homemade treats  on Weekend Meanderings.

Good morning friends, how are you?

Today I am joining Kim and Juliet for weekend meanderings, our weekly series of things that caught our eye, piqued our interest. Adventures, style, life and so much more.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas here in NC, the temperatures have dropped and it has been cold and rainy. I don’t think we will see  a white Christmas but a girl can dream.

The cookies are baked, the packages are wrapped and mailed and all that is left is to enjoy the rest of this magical season.

Tonight we are going to a holiday concert, Sunday to a friends and then Monday we are having a sleepover with my niece.

Stocking Stuffers

On Christmas morning when we crept from our beds we would find a trail of candy from the fireplace to our Christmas tree. Our bulging stockings so heavy they were no longer hanging from the fireplace but laying along side the hearth.

When we were kids it was mostly candy and small toys. Nowadays, they are filled with little things, an orange in the toe, our favorite candy, a new toothbrushtoothpaste, and lots of other toiletries and a book.

Here are a few stocking stuffers that you might like to add to your list.

A pair of earrings, a candle, definitely a book or two, a card game, soap, nail polish,  perfume, gloves, a hat, lipstick, a mug, hot chocolate, the possibilities are endless!

What do you put in your families stockings? What do you like to find in your stocking?

Last Minute Christmas Gifts

The countdown to Christmas is on, in 9 days we will be sitting around the tree in our holiday jammies, eating cinnamon rolls and opening presents. It may be too late to get a letter to Santa but you can certainly take advantage of the last minute sales and get yourself something. Or pick up a few last minute gifts for family and friends.

A Little Reminder

The best gift that you can give is you! Your time and presence is something that costs nothing to give but is priceless to your children, grandchildren, parents, friends and significant other. All of the store bought gifts in the world cannot make up for you!

Take the time this holiday to turn off your devices, don’t worry about a photo for the “gram” and just enjoy the magic, laughter and love of the holidays.

Sweet Treats

Christmas gifts don’t have to come from a store, they can come from your heart and your kitchen. Here are a few of my tried and true favorites.

  1. Elizabeth, I have to sit down tonight with some tea and check out all the fun links. I love the outfit for the holiday bling! Some really cute brooches you found for a great price. Is that your house with the big windows and tree on top? It’s a beautiful room. I love the story of your family making the candy lead to the tree. How fun that must have been!
So many recipes.. The Fleur de Sel Truffles look so good! I am going to do some baking tonight and this week now that I am done blogging. I hope you take some time to also enjoy the season ! It’s been wonderful to have this opportunity to do this with you and Juliet, and I am grateful! Wishing you a happy Christmas and New Year!

  2. Elizabeth … I’m glad you’re joining us for a well-deserved and relaxing break. It’s been quite a year and I’m so appreciative of your idea for our weekend meanderings. Sounds like you’re organized and ready to enjoy this week before Christmas … what fun with your niece! You’ve shared so many wonderful baking ideas … I wish I had time to try them all. But you know what I’m going to do?! Spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s cooking and baking up a storm! But back to this week … I loved hearing about your childhood candy trail to the stockings. That’s so fun. Our grandmother put oranges in the toes of our stockings too … something I continued with our kids. And it’s one of the things they mention most about their childhood Christmas’. I thought it was a Swedish thing, but then I heard Italian and German … and maybe its universal. However it came about I love it … although I learned to go for the smaller tangerines to prevent the stockings from tumbling off the fireplace. Anyhoo … Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and I’ll see you January 7th! xoxo

  3. Elizabeth, now I know where to find a brooch to join the party next year! How cute are these? Love all you christmasy ideas and your cozy winter outfit!

  5. Sitting down to check out your weekly links is so much fun, Elizabeth! I love all your cookies and treat box ideas and the way you have everything packaged is really beautiful too. I could shop your closet any day of the week. I shared the gray sparkle skirt above in cream this week. It’s perfect for this time of year and I’m trying to convince my Mom to twin with me for our birthdays. Thanks so much for sharing my sweet shop-themed Christmas tree. I really appreciate it. I hope you and your family have a richly blessed New Year and a happy Christmas, CoCo

  6. Oh, Elizabeth! I am always a fan of all of the photos and recipes that you share. I could just save them all and add them to a book! Thank you for sharing my ornaments. They were so easy and such a joy to make and hang on the tree. May you have the merriest of Christmases, sweet friend!

  7. Enjoy your break, sweet friend. I took last week off to spend it with the children and grandchildren. Love the outfits you have here especially that bling it skirt.
