What You Need to Make Valentines Brownies
These scrumptious fudge brownies are made with simple pantry ingredients. The only thing you will need special is M&M candy.
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 Valentine’s M&M candy
How to Make Valentine’s Day Brownies
- Preheat oven to 350F. Prepare and 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper and cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, let butter and chocolate over low heat. Remove the pan from the heat.
- Stir in sugar, vanilla extract and eggs. Using a wooden spoon beat lightly until just combined.
- Fold in the flour and the chocolate chips until just a few streaks of flour remain. Do not overheat the batter.
- Spread the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan then scatter the M&M candies over the top. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Do not ovebake.
- Remove the pan from the oven and let cool on wire rack.
- Cut and enjoy.
Varriations
- If you are short on time you can use a brownie mix, making this a 2 ingredient Valentine’s treat.
- For extra fudge brownies bake for 26-27 minutes.
- Drizzle the top of the brownies with melted white and dark chocolate.
- Add one to two teaspoons of instant espresso powder to the batter to intensify the chocolate flavor without making the brownies taste like coffee.
- Flaky sea salt sprinkled on top right before baking creates a sweet-salty contrast. Use Maldon or fleur de sel for the best texture and flavor.
- Brown the butter before melting it with the chocolate for a nutty flavor. Cook the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and smells like toasted nuts, about five minutes. Be careful not to let it burn. Let it cool slightly before add the chocolate and proceeding with the recipe.
What to Serve with Valentine’s M&M Brownies
- Vanilla bean ice cream, strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream or even coffee ice cream
- Whipped cream
- Drizzle with hot fudge and make a Valentine’s Day sundae
- Chocolate covered strawberries
How to Store Fudgy Brownies
Brownies stay fresh at room temperature for three to four days . Cut them into squares and layer them in an airtight container with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking. Or wrap them in plastic wrap if you plan on eating them within 24 hours.
For longer storage, wrap individual brownie squares in plastic wrap, then place them all in a freezer-safe zip-top bag. They will keep for 3 months.
THAT’S ALL FOR NOW
If you are looking for a special treat to make for your Valentine this easy dessert is just the thing. You can make these rich fudge brownies with or without the M&M candy. Be sure to save the recipe to make all year long.
