WEEKEND MEANDERINGS

Good morning friends, happy Saturday! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.

Today I am sharing the spectacular Aynho Park, designer Nina Long, a few 4th of July sales and lots more. Grab a coffee, tea or chocolate and let’s get to it.

RH England, The Gallery at Aynho Park

Restoration Hardware, rebranded RH, recently opened its first store in England and what an amazing store it is. Located in the newly refurbished Grade I Aynho Park, this will be a shopping experience like no other. Take notes and be sure to visit this breathing destination on your next trip to London, it is a short train trip to the Cotswolds. Although I think you might need more than a day trip to take it all in.

Anyho Park is a 400 year old, 55,000 square ft house located on 73 acre estate in the Cotswolds. It was  remodeled in the early 19th century by Sir John Soane, and has recently undergone a 3 year refresh to transform it into a shopping, dining, entertaining oasis.

Can you imagine shopping in this beautiful house? There are 60 rooms filled with “luxury home furnishings collections from internationally renowned designers [and] rare art, antiques, and artifacts from around the world.” There is also a library filled with 2000 design books.

In addition to that there are 6 restaurants and wine bars, a tea salon and a deer park. In fact the deer park has Europes largest herd of white deer!

ONE TO FOLLOW~Nina Long

Although Instagram annoys the heck out of me with the continual algorithm changes I still manage to find amazing artists and designers. Recently I came across this image and went down a rabbit hole and beautiful rooms.

Nina Long is one half of the Atlanta based, design firm Easterling & Long. Don Easterling is the other half. Timeless, classic, old-world, collected are just few of the adjectives  I would use to describe the designs of Nina and Don.

From Easterling & Long:

“Their passion for design and unique partnership allows them to create remarkable interiors in Atlanta and beyond. Each project they create highlights each other’s styles and strengths, combining Don’s mastery of classic, traditional layering with an extensive knowledge of architecture alongside Nina’s fresh, young perspective and her love of art, textiles, travel and her mastery of color. Together, they strike the perfect balance creating interiors that are not only beautiful but meaningful and comfortable to live in.”

Monday I shared this summer outfit(the dress is only $49.00) and fabulous home tour of Michael Giannelli and a great book, Heading Home to Lavender Cottage,  among other things.  By the way, Michaels’ house may be one of my all time favorite houses. It is filled with collected finds from all over the world, seascapes from antique markets and treasured sea shells.

  1. RH’s new spot in England is now on my bucket list as is the restaurant in Marin, CA. Their CEO, Gary Friedman, is a visionary and has accomplished so much with this organization. Thanks for sharing about RH. Enjoy your holiday.

  2. Elizabeth that new RH looks like a destination! I also love The Cotswolds so even more reason to go there. Nina is very talented! I will check out her work.
You have so many great ideas for the fourth! I hope it’s a nice weekend and you guys have a good one. Off to read your Tudor stuff!
    xo

  3. Happy 4th of July weekend, Elizabeth! Wow, Aynho Park is spectacular. RH has really taken their game to the next level … what a showplace. And six restaurants/! Holy moly. I’m impressed with the three RH locations that have opened near us including the ginormous flagship in San Francisco … but this country estate is jaw dropping. Speaking of jaw dropping, that Eastering & Long wet bar is a wet bar to end all wet bars. I’m following immediately. Hope you’re enjoying the weekend so far and have an amazing 4th! xo

  4. RH has to be one of the most uninspired and boring collection of furnishings. Everything is of one color palette if you can call it color. You asked, and that is my honest opinion. Give me color!!

    1. Nanci, RH is not my style of interior design either. I simply love the house, gardens and the fact that you can visit this beautiful place for the first time and enjoy a tea or glass of wine while enjoying the deer and the grounds. I also like the fact that the CEO takes old buildings like banks, this country house, and turns them into a destination.
My personal style is more RL, maximilast country house.
Thank you for sharing, it is refreshing to have someone give an honest opinion!
