Weekend Meanderings

Good Saturday morning friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.

How was your Thanksgiving? What have you made with your leftovers? Are you a white bread and turkey sandwich lover or do you get a little more creative and make a potpie or soup? The only leftovers at our house is pumpkin pie.

I am ready to move on to the Christmas treats and baking. If you only add one new treat to your cookie/candy plate try my brownie pinecones!

My Favorite Small Businesses

Today is Small Business Saturday so be sure to support your local small businesses, as well as, small online businesses. Here are some of my favorite places to shop small.

Elizabeth Floyd: Elizabeth Floyd, a former architect Elizabeth left her job at the age of 35 to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. Her current exhibition is in Charleston just in case you are in the neighborhood. I have one of her watercolor paintings and love it.

Gretel Parker: Shropshire needle felt artist – fine wool sculpture, Zoom classes, needle felt supplies can all be found in her Etsy shop!

Hood Canal Candle Company: Pamela create all natural candles in seasonal fragrances.

small pairs of Eiffel Tower scissors.

Most Lovely Things: Did you know that Annie, of the blog and Instagram Most Lovely Things has a shop? Annie makes regular trips to the markets in France and you can find vintage finds, lavender sachets, handmade ornaments and more in her shop.

Ria Kirshnan Fine ArtBeautiful fine art paintings that you will have for years to come and will pass along to your children or grandchildren.

PVE: Patricia is an artist and friend and her work is amazing. You can find prints, original art, cards, notebooks, 2026 Calendars and more in her shop, including the monogram that I shared in “Gifts for Her.”

The Polo HouseAllison is an interior decorator,  blogger and small business owner, she has an Etsy shop.

Ok, I have lots to more to share so let’s meander.

Now that Thanksgiving is over it is officially Christmas music time. Are you looking for a holiday playlist? Michael’s Christmas Playlist from his album Christmas is on of my favorites.

Lady Carnarvon and her sister, antiquities expert Georgie Aitken, explore some of the  artifacts brought to the estate through centuries of global trade. From ornate Spanish leather wallpaper in the Saloon and fine silk adorning the Music Room walls to a Viking brooch uncovered on the grounds and Highclere’s Egyptian Exhibition.

Winter At Sissinghurst

Baking in 1830

It’s no secret that I love to bake. But I am not sure that I could do it in these conditions.

Four professional bakers leave their modern businesses behind to experience what their profession was like in the past as they bake their way through the Victorian era.

  1. Hi Elizabeth! I am a turkey sandwich person for sure. Love them on a sourdough bread roll! We just finished the leftovers, but still have a lot of pies and sweets left which is good/ bad! LOL.
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I love your men’s ideas. Good ones and I love the robe and kettle .
I always spend the weekdays enjoying all your videos you post slowly. You find the best things.
I need to try the turkey soup! It looks so good.
    Wishing you a lovely weekend!
I guess I better start thinking about Christmas.
    Hugs, Kim

  2. So many good links, Elizabeth! We have leftover pumpkin pie, too. Nothing wrong with that! I’m a Michael Bublé fan and love his music, especially at Christmas. Have the best weekend, friend!

  3. Hi Elizabeth,
So many wonderful things to watch on your blog thank you for all the fun during this busy time!! I am looking forward to going to Sydney Australia this Christmas to see dear friends. Both of our kids are with their in-laws this year and so we both thought we needed to go somewhere completely different from the norm and celebrate somewhere new. We used to live there! Cannot wait!
    Take care!

  4. Elizabeth! I love this time of year … post-Thanksgiving when we can turn our play lists and radio stations to all Christmas all the time. Michale Buble tops my list of Christmas crooners. Wonderful videos from Highclere and Sissinghurst … I could watch them all day and that’s pretty much what I did yesterday. No shame. We were guests for Thanksgiving so there are no leftovers, I do miss making turkey soup. But I may head out to our local specialty grocer for a bowl of theirs. Wishing you the best week ahead! xo
